Keeping Our Community and Wildlife Safe: Did You Know Animal Series

Keeping our Community and Wildlife Safe- Animal Series

With fall soon approaching, we are reminded that many of our local wildlife neighbours-particularly deer, bears, cougars, raccoons and rats–will be seeking increased amounts of food in preparation for the winter months ahead.

It is an important time for us to remember that we share our beautiful natural environment with wildlife. Understanding a few key facts about some of our wildlife neighbours can help us make informed choices and support a safe community for all.

Did you Know?

As the seasons change, wildlife behaviour changes too.  Animals may become more active around our homes and shared spaces as they search for food, water and shelter.

Over the coming weeks, our Animal Series will feature some of the wildlife we may encounter in and around our community.  Each “Did You Know?” will share some interesting facts, helpful reminders and simple steps we can take to encourage safe co-existence.

A little awareness can go a long way in keeping our community–and our wildlife neighbours–safe.
