NOTICE GARBAGE & WILDLIFE ATTRACTANT REMINDER
Council has observed an increase in residents placing garbage, recycling, and compost bins curbside the evening prior to collection, in some cases as early as 6:00 p.m. Residents are reminded that Long Lake, Bylaw Part 4, Division 13, prohibits wildlife attractants from being left accessible to animals. Given the history of bear activity and other wildlife encounters within the community, all owners and residents are reminded that bins are to be placed curbside for collection on Monday mornings only.
Please be advised that if bins are left out the night before collection, owners and residents may be subject to bylaw infraction warning letters and/or fines. Residents are also reminded to ensure that all garbage, recycling, and compost bin lids are properly secured at all times to prevent wildlife from accessing the contents.
- Please remain “Bear Aware” by taking proactive steps to minimize wildlife attractants, including:
- Storing bins securely until collection morning
- Ensuring lids are fully closed and latched
- Cleaning bins regularly to reduce odours
- Avoiding leaving food waste or pet food outdoors
Council appreciates everyone’s cooperation in helping maintain a safe and wildlife-conscious community.
Thank you,
Colyvan Pacific Strata Management
