NOTICE
FIRE SAFETY AND FIRESMART REMINDER
In light of the recent house fire on Woodhaven, as well as reports of fires being burned on a somewhat regular basis along the lakeside beach area adjacent to the strata property, Council wishes to remind all residents to remain vigilant regarding fire safety at all times. Residents are asked to be diligent when seeing or smelling smoke and to immediately call 911 if there is any concern regarding a possible fire or unsafe activity. Early reporting can help prevent a small incident from becoming a major emergency.
Council also reminds all residents to remain FireSmart and avoid any activities that could potentially result in a fire, including but not limited to:
- Improper disposal of cigarette butts
- Backyard or unauthorized open fires
- Careless disposal of ashes or smoking materials
- Unsafe use of outdoor equipment or flammable materials
Residents are reminded that current seasonal conditions increase the risk of wildfire activity, including:
- Lower winter snowpack in the mountains
- Below-average seasonal precipitation
- Increased likelihood of elevated temperatures throughout the summer months
These conditions can create dry and highly combustible environments, making it especially important for everyone to exercise caution and take fire prevention seriously. Council appreciates everyone’s cooperation in helping keep the community safe.
